Dr. Burns is assistant professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
He received his undergraduate education at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and attended The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
After completing a general surgery residency at the University of Utah School of Medicine, Salt Lake City, he returned to Dallas to complete his plastic surgery training at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He subsequently completed a vascular anomalies fellowship under the guidance of John B. Mulliken, M.D., at Children's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Dr. Burns is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and many state and local professional societies.
Dr. Burns is a contributing author to Selected Readings in Plastic Surgery. He is also published author in various medical journals and texts.
He is an integral member of Plastic Surgery and Craniofacial team at Children's Medical Center.
Dr. Burns' special interests include congenital vascular anomalies, breast, cosmetic and laser surgery.
